Agenda Items:

1. Welcome and call meeting to order: Called to order 4:05 PM

2. Approval of minutes from our last meeting: Carly Miskol motioned to approve.

Kali Agy seconded the motion. All approved.

3. Discuss how we publicize our year’s work and plan successes to the school

community and Legislators.

a. Mr. Walker compiles results of Acadience testing on an annual basis.

These results are made public through a ParentSquare message. Mr.

Walker also sends an email to all relevant legislators.

4. Welcome new members of SCC for the upcoming school year:

a. Anna Whitmore

b. Holly Uphold

c. Kali Agy

d. Aleicia Jones

e. Amy Jo Royall (odd year position)

f. Liz Huff (odd year position)

g. New faculty members are Shawnya Klingler, Katie Jenkins, and Ann

Fisher, joining Michelle VanDyken.

5. Review School Safety Report action items. Principal completes School Safety

report follow up report on CSD Dashboard.

a. Mr. Walker received outreach from Cottonwood Heights Police

Department regarding community concerns at the corner of Titian Way

and Bengal Boulevard. The city is planning to paint the curb red to help

enforce parking restrictions. It will be up to the school/volunteers to

re-educate drivers and help with ongoing enforcement.

b. Members will follow up on this item during the August 4th meeting to

make sure the curb has been painted, and discuss a retraining plan for the

school community.

6. Member questions:

a. What does technology and iReady look like next year?7. i. Classroom technology will be more restricted next year, and used

only for curriculum instruction. Second grade teachers have

expressed interest in keeping iReady to help with progress

monitoring and standards mastery in relation to RISE testing. If we

continue to use iReady in certain classroom situations, funding

would need to come from the school (SCC).

ii. In some instances, technology is still used to correspond with

lessons, such as Amplify (math). Students and teachers are working

together using dual technology, as opposed to working individually.

b. How are we focussing on common core standards?

i. Teachers are intentional about selecting essential items/elements of

common core standards and applying them to meet unique

classroom and student needs. Teachers unpack the standard to get

specific about vocabulary, prerequisites, etc. Instructional emphasis

is determined by teachers based on what was learned in the

previous grade and what the next grade will require.

c. Members raised concerns regarding ongoing lunch issues (table

separation, noise, staffing):

i. Next year the grade schedule has no over-lap in the lunch room.

With just one grade, more flexibility as far as seating is possible.

ii. Allowing “free-seating” at lunch may be possible at a grade level,

based on reinforcing positive behavior, while also allowing time to

build classroom communities. Using a buddy pass was suggested as

an incentive (Bengal bucks).

iii. Students will also start using different halls for each grade’s release

to recess in order to minimize sound disturbances. Facilities funds

may be used for sound-proofing in the cafeteria.

iv. Clear system and enforcement is necessary.

d. e. Staffing: Cafeteria aide, recess aides, kindergarten teacher position open

Permitting is still ongoing. Mr. Walker will make determinations over the

summer based on individual needs and overall school/grade balance.

Closing: Adjourned 4:53 PM. Jenny Heffner motioned to close, Carly Miskol

seconded the motion. All approved.
