US News Utah’s Top Ranked Elementary School Badge

Principal’s Introduction

It is such a privilege to be a part of this wonderful community, and I am excited to continue my third year as principal here at Canyon View Elementary!  Prior to becoming a Bengal Cub, I served as principal at Oakdale Elementary School for three wonderful years.  I also had the opportunity to work with the students at Alta High School in the role as assistant principal when first moving to this great state.

My teaching roots originated in Houston, Texas as a Teach for America corps member after graduating with a Business Management, International Marketing degree from Brigham Young University.  I was a bilingual pre-kindergarten teacher, second-grade teacher, fifth grade teacher, and then lead Science teacher within the Houston Independent School District.

I then spent the next seven years as a language specialist in Portland, Oregon for English language learner Students in a school that served a population of students speaking over 36 languages. In that capacity, I also had the opportunity to lead and train teachers throughout Tigard-Tualatin School District in optimizing research-based instructional practices while also serving as a local representative and state delegate with the Oregon Education Association.

My husband Tom and I met and married in Portland, Oregon. We have a four-year old daughter who loves coconut yogurt, dancing, and Moana and a new little boy who is crawling everywhere and loves discovering new foods.  They are the light of our lives and definitely keep us on our toes!  We love to spend our time outdoors camping, hiking, and exploring the many beautiful places that surround us here in Utah.  We consider ourselves lucky to live in such a beautiful place and enjoy being a part of the Canyon View community!
