c. Thrive Time: Numbers show we need to work on conflict resolution and

will incorporate more ways to build skills throughout daily instruction.

i. Mr. Walker, Instructional Coach, and Social worker are each

teaching Thrive Time lessons in all classrooms throughout the year.

ii. Our school is one of four in the district piloting Thrive Time

curriculum.(And therefore do not have a large pool of comparison

data).

d. Our 3rd Grade team was honored for having at least 70% of third grade

students reach above benchmark on Acadience Reading End of Year test

for the 2024-25 school year. We are 1 of only 3 schools who achieved this

honor in our district. This is also a testament to our K, 1st, and 2nd grade

teams, who provide stepped learning instruction.

4. School safety report – members come prepared with questions.

https://www.canyonsdistrict.org/safe-schools

a. Number one safety concern at school:i. Parking lot safety- Request for resource officer presence once a

Concern about what happens if a fire alarm is pulled during another

safety event, as well as where fire alarms are located in the school.

Mr. Walker will report on these concerns at our next meeting.

iii. With the exit of our front office administrative assistant, Ina

Thompson will now be the lead Safety Person.

c. Reports will be submitted by Mr. Walker.

5. Update on staffing in front office:

a. Our administrative assistant will be leaving her position on November

14th. Currently, this position is not posted. Due to district closures at

nearby schools (Granite, Park Lane or Bella Vista), we may be getting an

obligatory office transfer. We will receive more details after December. We

are planning on a temporary sub for front office admin until a hiring

decision is made. Our current part time secretaries will work extra hours

as funded by the district. The district may also staff Assistant Principals in

elementary schools. Canyon View is among the 4 schools in our district

without an Assistant Principal.

6. Do we need to meet in December?

a. Mr. Walker proposed cancelling the SCC meeting in December. Jenny

Heffner motioned to approve, Carly Miskol seconded the motion. All

approved.

7. A member raised a concern about management of lunch side options. The last

students at lunch are missing out on food because first-choice sides are getting
